Sunday 18th October- walk **** - Landguard Nature Reserve Circuit – mainly cloudy.

A light wind weekend we have been entertaining friends and neighbours in front of our lovely open fire. So, with friends coming for a cuppa and cake this afternoon Mag and I decided we had time for a walk after our exercises were done. Being a Sunday, we didn’t fancy the very busy prom here in Felixstowe so we drove to the Manor carpark for a circuit of the lovely Landguard Nature Reserve, I took my big lens in case there were any birds about. This is also a popular spot but we set off along the small hills, route we haven’t been on since our childminding days. It offers good views all around, out to sea, the beach, the nature reserve and the hustle and bustle of Felixstowe docks. With the wind light and offshore the sea was like a mirror with loads of little fishing boats, an old sailing boats and a tug waiting for a huge container ship to come int the docks. Also, five jet skies were whizzing back and forth very fast! Then it was down to the viewing point and back along the beach collecting driftwood and coal for our fire as the container ship sailed past. Onto the beach a long stretch of shingle and sand, nice and quiet too. Large black menacing clouds were approaching from inland and we had already had some light rain but luckily, we didn’t get any more rain. While Mag continued along the beach, I walked into the reserve in search of some birds but they were few and far between :( Meeting Mag back at the van after a very pleasant Sunday stroll and home for yummy homemade soup. It is also looking promising for some windsurfing next week but not sure where I am going yet???
